I've been reloading light 20 loads for my LC Smith 20 where I need to stay under 8500 psi. I want to stick with Remington Game Load hulls as I have a couple hundred of them and they reload exceptionally well for me. To date I've only used the following recipe 7/8 oz Rem. Game load hull 13.4...Rem. SP20. 1,285. The WAA20 OEM wad also takes up too much room. It really depends on what powder you're using, and consequently the volume, if you're using Unique, you're in trouble, if you're using WSF you have more options. The STS 20 is probably the most difficult hull to find a suitable alternative for, unless you're using a very dense powder.

There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. That does not mean that with some combinations it could not be used with 7/8 or even 1-1/8 ounce loadings. For 2 3/4" non toxic 20 ga loads, the straight walled hulls are the best. Fiocchi, Cheddite, Rio, Federal. You can get away with Bismuth in the Rem and Win hulls with the right powder and wads. I personally just shoot 3/4 oz steel in 2 3/4" hulls but that takes Steel powder to get the speed needed.
